At OnlineMeasurer.com (producers of the Mezur measurement tool and educational size guessing game), we believe that utility websites should respect human privacy by design. We build tools that do not require account registration, do not collect personal dossiers, and operate client-side whenever possible.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
OnlineMeasurer does not require you to provide a name, email address, password, phone number, or billing information. We do not maintain user databases with personal accounts, and we do not track your activity across unrelated third-party websites.
2. Data Retention (Browser Local Storage)
To deliver offline functionality and save your gameplay achievements without requiring server accounts, our tools use standard browser window.localStorage. This data includes:
- Display Calibration (stored in
naapu.v1): Your screen's calculated pixels-per-millimeter scale factor so you do not have to recalibrate on every visit. - Game Progress & Records (stored in
naapu.v1): Unlocked worlds, stars, experience points (XP), player rank, and daily hunt streaks. - Settings & Preferences: Sound effects (synthesizer audio), haptic feedback, default measurement units (mm, cm, in), and language selection (
settings.lang).
Retention Period: All client data resides exclusively on your local device. Data in localStorage remains stored indefinitely until you explicitly clear your browser cookies and site data, or click "Reset All Progress" in the in-game Settings screen. This data is never transmitted to our web servers.
3. Web Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analysis service provided by Google LLC, to measure page views, user engagement, and device performance. Google Analytics collects pseudonymous interaction data, general browser/device types, and approximate geographic location (city/country level). IP addresses are automatically anonymized by Google Analytics 4. No personally identifiable information (such as your name or email) is collected or transmitted. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4. Advertising Cookies & Google AdSense
To keep our tools free and accessible to everyone, we display advertisements provided by Google AdSense on select static articles and guides.
- Consent Requirement: In regions governed by data privacy regulations requiring consent (such as the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland under the IAB Europe TCF v2.2 framework), advertising cookies and tracking scripts from Google load ONLY AFTER you grant explicit consent through Google's Certified Consent Management Platform (CMP).
- Where Ads Appear: Ads are placed by Google on our content pages. We never place ads in a way that imitates our buttons or encourages accidental clicks, and the ruler measuring area stays free of ads.
- Third-Party Cookies: When consent is granted, Google uses cookies (such as DoubleClick) to serve ads based on visits to this and other websites.
Amazon Associates Affiliate Disclosure
OnlineMeasurer.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Some guides, such as our measuring tools guide, link to products on Amazon. If you click one of these links and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you visit Amazon, Amazon may set its own cookies to record the referral, and Amazon's privacy notice applies on its website.
5. How to Opt Out of Personalized Advertising
You have multiple easy avenues to control or disable personalized advertising:
- Google Ads Settings: Manage or disable personalized Google ads at Google Ads Settings.
- Industry Opt-Out Portals: Visit the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) WebChoices or the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA).
- Browser Controls: You can block third-party cookies or enable "Do Not Track" / Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals in your browser settings.
6. European Privacy Rights (GDPR & UK GDPR)
If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) affords you specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access & Portability: Because we do not store personal profiles on our servers, your data is stored locally on your device. You can view all saved values directly in your browser's Developer Tools (Application → Local Storage).
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can erase all data instantly by clicking "Reset All Progress" in game Settings or by clearing your browser's site data for onlinemeasurer.com.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You can modify or withdraw your cookie consent at any time via the consent revocation link or by clearing stored cookies in your browser.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (DPA) regarding our processing activities.
7. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA & CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have rights regarding their personal information:
- Notice of Collection: We do not collect identifiers, commercial information, biometric information, or geolocation data from visitors.
- No Sale of Personal Information: OnlineMeasurer.com does not sell and will never sell your personal information to third parties for monetary or other consideration.
- Right to Delete: You can delete all locally held game data and ruler calibration at any time via your browser settings or our in-game Reset button.
- Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you, deny access, or charge higher fees because you exercised your CCPA rights.
8. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
OnlineMeasurer is an educational utility suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
